Access to the Training container is via locking bars on both doors and a 4-digit combination padlock. The unique access code is defined by the TP and changed periodically. All instructors and SCSC flag officers are notified of changes by the TP through the SCSC Instructors WhatsApp group.
Similarly, access to the Training cupboard in the office is controlled by a 4-digit padlock. Only the SCSC Instructor group are authorised to use this cupboard.
RTC dinghies are maintained by the CI-D and TP, including minor fibreglass and gelcoat repairs as required. Masts, rigging, hulls and fittings are inspected and cleaned annually during the early-Spring fleet shakedown day. All instructors are expected to assist in preparing the boats at the start of the season.
Each training boat has its own register form with indicative photographs, which gives summary information on age, construction and repair works undertaken. The register forms are updated as required and hard copies kept in the Bosun file for reference.
Routine powerboat maintenance is carried out on all engines, transmissions and electrical systems twice annually. The club has a service contract in place with Walker Outboard Services Ltd. of Reading for this work.
Intermittent issues are remedied by the CI-P in conjunction with the club Bosun team.
