First Aid

First Aid boxes are located in the main clubhouse, the galley, both changing rooms and in all of the safety boats. These are inspected monthly. Use items from the boxes as required, but please inform the Rear Commodore so that stocks can be replenished as necessary. Accidents should be entered in the Accident Book, which is kept in the First Aid box in the main clubhouse. Remove the sheet and pass to the Vice Commodore via the Vice Commodore's box file located in the office (please observe confidentiality as personal data).

The following are trained First Aiders:

  • * All RYA qualified instructors
  • * Other club members as posted from time to time on the club noticeboard in the clubhouse

A reference copy of the RYA First Aid manual is kept inside the main clubhouse on the table opposite the Galley entrance. Please do not remove this document except if needed in a casualty emergency situation.

The physical locations of the First Aid boxes and the current list of club First Aiders are depicted in the photos shown in the downloadable pdf version of this document (see 'Downloads' list below).

The Club member responsible for First Aid boxes is Alistair Sim, Rear Commodore

Automatic Defibrillator

An automatic defibrillator (AED) is located just inside the men's changing room, next to the entrance doorway. It is highly visible from the door side of the screens so there is no need to go into the main part of the changing room for access. Although it's best used by those correctly trained, in an emergency it can be used by anyone. The machine will talk you through the process: just switch on and follow its instructions.
