Latest COVID-19 Update 04/02/2021
Published 17:52 on 4 Mar 2021
The COVID-19 Team have now received the RYA Guidance on the new lockdown relaxation announcements and can advise the following.
Firstly, we need to again thank all of our members for their continued support. Whilst there is a glimmer of hope for future activity of course we are very reliant on the Government rules remaining the same and a month in politics is a very long time, so we can only advise on what we know now.
Of course, our primary concern is to protect our members and the local community which means not only doing the right thing but being seen to.
The rules from 8 March are still currently "Stay at Home" for all members. The club is still closed with the exception of preparing the club facilities for a return to sailing. Please do not visit the site unless with the agreement of the COVID team.
Under the Government's current rules, it looks like the club can open partially with a return to sailing, cruising and racing, from 29 March. However, this is with restrictions on shore, the rule of 6, the Bar, changing rooms and clubhouse closed etc. We will issue the SCSC guidance and documentation nearer the time in case the Government rules and guidance from the RYA alter during the month.
Please find below the "RYA Covid-19 FAQs in England from 5 Jan 2021" document updated to provide further information about the upcoming changes which might be of interest.
Let's hope that things keep going the way they are now and we can enjoy our facilities again as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the COVID-19 Team.
