Cruising

We have an active cruising section at the club where you can sail and socialise with fellow sailors. Sailing in company is great fun and we are here to help you get enjoyment and pleasure from your sailing. We aim to be family orientated, allowing you to sail on the lake with safety boat cover even if you do not fancy the cut and thrust of racing. You may be an experienced sailor but just want to potter and enjoy being on the water, or you may be a complete novice and want to get started in company.10 o’clock. A large yellow flag with a red triangle displayed at the race hut shows that there is safety boat cover. On Saturday afternoons and Sundays you can sail at the same time as the racing fleets so long as you keep out of the way of the racing boats. At the end of racing, this flag is lowered with three sound signals, showing that the safety boat cover has finished.

You may find that after a short period you fancy the challenge of racing. You are welcome to join in any race; a novice start is in place this year on a Sunday morning to ease you in gently, or on Wednesday evenings you will find yourself in good company.

We have seven ‘Let’s go sailing’ sessions on Saturday afternoons during the season to help you get started. These are run by senior members of the club with years of sailing experience. This is a great opportunity to learn from some of the club’s best sailors free of charge.
