RYA Sailing Courses

 South Cerney Sailing Club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre for Sailing and provides Level 1 and 2 courses as described by the RYA below.

Dinghy Level 1 - Start Sailing

Introduction to the sport of sailing. Covers all you need to know to get afloat under supervision.

Course Type :

DINGHY, Adult & Junior Course

Suggested minimum pre-course experience :

None.

 

Assumed Knowledge :

None.

 

Course Content :

How to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovery.

Ability After Course :

Able to sail in light winds under supervision.

Minimum Duration :

Two days

 

 

Dinghy Level 2 - Basic Skills

This course sets out the foundations of sailing for you. By the end of it you'll be a competent light wind sailor.

Suggested minimum pre-course experience :

Knowledge to Level 1 standard

Assumed Knowledge :

None.

 

Course Content :

Rigging, launching, sailing in all directions. Capsize recovery and essential safety background

Ability After Course :

Able to sail and make decisions in good conditions

Minimum Duration :

Course fees: members £110; non-members £175. Includes RYA Logbook, certificate, all course materials and the loan of a buoyancy aid if needed.
